"Welcome To The Party"

If you're looking for high energy, authentic country blues, give a listen to the latest release by the Bluff City Backsliders. This band from Memphis has a large following, easily filling the local clubs to capacity when performing. This self-titled CD(Yellow Dog) really gets your toes tappin’, as you listen to the bands energized performance. They offer several blues standards throughout this 12 track release. Beginning with the opening number, ".44 Blues", the Backsliders immediately grab your attention, with their strong delivery and original style to this blues classic. The bands leader, Mark Lemhouse mixes an array of musical formats, producing a solid, entertaining sound that really grows on you. The music is a tasty blend of country blues, ragtime, jazz, honky-tonk, juke joint, and Dixieland fused together for a sound that’s infectious.

Close your eyes, and this self-titled CD sounds similar to a live performance, with a quality to detail not often heard in this format. The Bluff City Backsliders are an eight member band using everything but the kitchen sink to reproduce that authentic roots sound. These multi-talented musicians will incorporate many instruments like mandolin, banjo, harp, or kazoo to perform the music once heard throughout the streets of Memphis from generations long past. You’ll find the music here to be strong, bold and sassy, warming up your stereo during these cold winter months. The bands eclectic style may seem a bit raw at times, but is quickly over-shadowed by the fun they’re having, improvising off of one another. I recommend you go out and get yourself a copy of this self-titled CD, it’s a party just waiting for you.
