Recreating what they call "old, weird America," the eight-piece Bluff City Backsliders carry the pre-WWII jug band torch well. Members are among Memphis' finest
from other well-known bands such as Lucero and Fatback Jubilee, but these guys have a sound of their own. A history lesson of old-time country, bluegrass and hill-country blues, the group uses energized fiddles,
snares, slap and finger plucked guitars, mandolin, sliding trombone, honky-tonk piano and kazoo solos that make for knee slapping fun and bootie shaking. Think Squirrel Nut Zippers (musically) meet The Sex Pistols
(spiritually). No need to step into a time machine, this band will flash you to the past -- almost a century -- in a totally modern way.
