Cincinnati isn't the first place you'd think of when you think of the blues, but the city is home to Big Joe Duskin, and that's a big damn deal. The well-seasoned Duskin pounds the piano and shouts up an absolute storm. At times he recalls the boogie and swing found in Kansas City, but there's gruff uniqueness to his interpretations of these 16 pre-war blues. An excellent band backs him all the way through Big Joe Jumps Again!, although Peter Frampton is an unfitting distraction who overplays on two of the songs. Otherwise, great, great stuff!
