The sounds of groovin Memphis soul return. Fronted and founded by Scott Bomar, the Bo-Keys channel Booker T. & the MGs, the Bar-Kays, and other mostly instrumental Stax/Volt-style bands. True to that legendary Memphis style, Bomars just-right note choice and warm tone are heavy on the meat-and-potatoes and light on the gravy. Guitarist Skip Pitts lends some real history to the bandhis whacka-whacka guitar line on Isaac Hayess Theme from Shaft made him immortal. The Bo-Keys funk is perfect for keeping cool on a hot summer night. |
