We here in central Virginia are big fans of the Memphis music scene, and Mark Lemhouse and his new release "Big Lonesome Radio" is a shining example of what is great about Memphis... the intersection of
music styles... black, white, country and modern, electric blues, soul from Stax, R&B from Goldwig and Hi and some of the best pop and rock recordings ever to hit the jukebox.
Mark captures the essence of
the country blues roots and recreates this wonderful wellspring of material into a new exciting context that sounds new but feels as good as a well worn pair of slippers. Not only does it sound good... it feels good!
I guess the real tribute is... his originals feel as good as a well crafted cover of a Charlie Patton or Charles Brown tune. This man not only has the chops... he has the feel and passion to
communicate the blues... oooh it feels so good!
