Mary Flower's Yellow Dog debut Bywater Dance is a classic blues record, and I was blown away. When I opened up the case and saw her picture, I thought about how out of place she seemed. Then I started listening. She is a fantastic musician, picking her way through the songs with enough attitude for all of New Orleans. She is joined by some of the town's best musicians and the recent devastation of the city makes this record particularly relevant. |
