Whoa! This is a great acoustic blues record! Deft & accurate fingerpicking combines with a lot of soul to make a record that expresses the blues much better than a lot of the showier players out there. Robb handles slide & fingerpicking equally well, borrowing from influences like Merle Travis, Chet Atkins & Blind Blake while still managing to sound like himself. The CD combines solo tracks with band cuts recorded in Memphis with some of Memphis' finest. There is a lot of variation in the music. This is one blues CD where all songs don't sound the same. Contrast Robb's rockin' version of Arthur Crudup's "My Baby Left Me" with his own "Cassie" and you'll see what I mean. This guy is one of the best.
