This is Portland, Oregon resident Terry Robb's debut for Memphis label Yellow Dog, 'Resting Place' showcases acoustic guitarist/ vocalist Robb in solo and band settings. The recordings took place in Sam Phillips' Memphis studio, with backing for the band songs provided by drummer Willie Hall, pianist Charlie Wood and bass player Paul Taylor.

Mixing classic numbers (a Scotty Moore influenced rockabilly reading of 'My Baby Left Me', Doc Pomus' 'Lonely Avenue' and Chuck Berry's 'Back To Memphis') with originals (including 'Cassie', 'Like Merle' and the solo Delta style 'Madison Ave. Shuffle'), Robb's virtuoso guitar picking is a breath of fresh air. He demonstrates deft finger picking on the medley 'Hesitation Blues'/ 'Knowing What Blues' and 'Like Merle', hauls off a mean lap slide on 'Back To Memphis' and plays a beautiful solo version of John Fahey's haunting 'Joe Kirby Blues'.

Definitely an album for acoustic blues guitarists, whatever their skill level to check out. He will scare the pants off the opposition; this guy is, to use the vernacular, the dog's bollocks! I forgot to mention, he's a pretty fair singer as well!
